Le Tour 2011

Once again we are heading into July and all eyes turn to France for the start of Le Tour de France. The 2011 edition of the World’s most popular cycle race, and arguably the toughest sporting event in the annual calendar starts in Passage du Gois on 2 July and finishes in the traditional sprint around the Champs-Elysees on 24 July.

The 98th edition of le Tour consists of 21 stages and 2 rest days. These stages are split into:

  • 10 flat stages
  • 3 medium mountain stages
  • 6 mountain stages
  • 1 team time trial
  • 1 individual team time trial

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first climb of the Col du Galibier in the Alps, the riders will climb it twice including the highest ever summit finish in the race.
